A dialogue about learning, accountability, and meaning — for those just starting out, and for those who feel they are rethinking their direction.


Theatre director and dramaturg, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Theatre, UBB Cluj. Between 2017 and 2024 she served as General Director of the Youth Theatre and curator of the Theatre Festival in Piatra Neamț.

In Romania she works with both independent and state theatres (Teatrul Odeon, Teatrul Mic, Teatrul Excelsior, Teatrul Nottara in Bucharest, TNRS in Sibiu, Youth Theatre in Piatra Neamț).

She works as a theatre director in European venues including the Kammerspiele in Munich, the National Theatre in Madrid, the Contemporary Theatre in Szczecin, the State Theatre in Stuttgart, Teatro delle Passione in Modena, and the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava.

She has been selected twice for the official programme of the Festival d’Avignon (with “Solitaritate”, staged at TNRS Sibiu, and “Tigru”, a production of the Royal Dramatic Theatre of Sweden).

In 2025, Matca published the volume “Va urma” with 10 of the plays she has written over the last 15 years.
